Activities in the National Park Region Gesäuse

The Gesäuse region offers great opportunities not only for kayakers! If you want to make the most of your time in addition to the kayaking courses, we have listed some great adventures & tours from the region. In addition to the activities listed here, there are of course many other options and regional “delicacies” to make your stay unforgettable! It is not for nothing that the slogan applies to us: “The Gesäuse gives you strength!”

Rafting Salza and Enns

The Enns is one of the most powerful Alpine rivers. Unfortunately, the river is only untouched in the Gesäuse, where one finds its last natural flow route, spared from power plants. An impressive wild river that takes us through the impressive mountain world of the national park. A great rafting tour with all facets for beginners and advanced.

The Salza, on the other hand, has a completely different character. From the white water difficulty level rather to be classified as easy to medium, and therefore also perfectly suitable for families and groups. Crystal clear, turquoise blue water in drinking water quality on the longest uninstalled white water route in Austria are just some of the hallmarks of this rafting tour.

In the region around the Gesäuse there are several canyoning tours with completely different canyon character. From alpine, deeply cut gorges such as the Bruckgraben to the jumping and sliding classic “Taglesbach” in the Ötscher area. For beginners but also adrenaline junkies there is certainly something!

If you don’t like it so steeply, the Nothklamm in Gams is the perfect choice. In addition to the gorge hike, you can also learn a lot of interesting details about geology & nature in the Geodorf.
Into the darkness is the program at the cave tours in the Kraushöhle and Odeslsteinhöhle.

Hiking & Mountains

“Wild water, steep rock” – this is the credo of the Gesäuse National Park. Unsurprisingly, besides the great rivers, the striking mountains of the national park region have also earned this reputation. In the Gesäuse you will find a variety of different hikes, managed huts, climbing tours and climbing climbs. The mountains in the Gesäuse are still unadulterated and not paved with lifts. So if you want to go to the summit here, you have to go up yourself!
